Building Practical Skills for Empowering Healing and Resilience

Go beyond the philosophies of complex care and build practical skills for empowering healing and resilience with individuals you serve. In this activity, learners will find a series of eight, 30-minute courses. Each course is delivered live every Tuesday at 2 p.m. CT by a group of 14 subject matter experts. Learners are encouraged to participate in the Care Philosophy on-demand series as a prerequisite to this activity.

The effects of trauma are widespread and vary greatly—from major depression and anxiety to obesity and diabetes, substance use disorder and altered interpersonal dynamics. The COVID-19 public health crisis has upended the lives of individuals and families, forcing them to cope with a new level of trauma caused by the virus that extends far beyond the physical illness.

This accredited series equips participants with practical tools that will help strengthen their skills in facilitating conversations and activities and conducting follow-up interventions with individuals experiencing complex health and social needs. As a result of this increased knowledge, learners can feel more confident in their ability to foster authentic healing relationships that build resiliency and avoid re-traumatization.

It is recommended that colleagues take the courses together and hold peer-led learning circles following each one. Discussion guides, plus other tools and resources for the courses, can be found in the Additional Information section.
