Women in Medicine Forum: Confronting Imposter Syndrome to Cultivate Inclusion

February 6, 2024

Activity description

The importance of inclusion in health care practice cannot be overstated. Embracing inclusion in medicine means actively dismantling barriers for women and fostering a collaborative culture that values diverse contributions. Inclusion emphasizes creating a sense of belonging and psychological safety within a group or organization; imposter syndrome, that internalized fear of incompetence and doubt in one’s abilities and accomplishments, often arises when individuals feel they don’t belong. Openly addressing imposter syndrome empowers us to build a community for women in medicine where encouragement becomes the driving force to rise above the shadows of self-doubt.
