Activity description
Atrial fibrillation (AF) and atrial flutter are both classified as supraventricular arrhythmias. AF comes with an increased risk of arterial thromboembolism, especially ischemic stroke. The CHA2DS2-VASc score is a point-based system that estimates the risk of stroke in individuals with AF. It is the most-used model for this purpose and is recommended by guidelines.
This on-demand webcast will explain the terminology and classification of AF and atrial flutter and distinguish modifiable and nonmodifiable risk factors. It will also discuss the CHA2DS2-VASc scoring system to estimate the risk for thromboembolic events and highlight best practices for documenting arrhythmias to the highest level of specificity using the most specific code available.
