Definitions
Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE) brings together members of two or more health professions to learn from, with and about each other. Its goal is to create a collaborative learning environment that enhances knowledge, skills, attitudes and performance for effective teamwork and better health outcomes. An activity is an educational event designed to address professional practice gaps within the health care team and/or the individual members of the health care team, and is based on valid, widely accepted content in medical science, clinical practice and health care delivery.
Education that DOES NOT qualify for accreditation:
- Orientation or onboarding sessions (e.g., HR compliance, general workplace policies).
- Non-clinical skills or training (e.g., how to use a software tool).
- In-service product demonstrations or sessions influenced by ineligible companies (commercial entities).
- Mandatory corporate training unrelated to clinical practice improvement (e.g., cybersecurity, diversity training).
- Promotional or marketing content.
