Intended audience
These activities are designed to meet the educational needs of dietitians, dietetic technicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, PAs, physicians, psychologists, social workers and other health care professionals.
Activity Description
These activities consist of recordings from the "Essentials of Oncology and Transplant Management for the Health Care Team" held April 8–9, 2025, in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Throughout these activities, faculty will address current, critical issues in transplant medicine and oncology that you can apply to the management of patients and/or their benefits. Participants will hear about advances, trends and updates on relevant topics within these fields, as well as current and emerging strategies to improve patient care and outcomes.
Learning Objectives
At the end of these educational activities, participants should be able to:
- Evaluate the indications, benefits, and risks of pancreas transplantation in diabetic patients to improve glycemic control and quality of life.
- Discuss the criteria for selecting patients for living-donor liver transplant (LDLT) in metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) and the outcomes of recent studies to optimize patient selection and management.
- Identify common post-lung-transplant complications and evidence-based management strategies to improve patient outcomes.
- Discuss the transformative innovations in transplantation technology, focusing on machine perfusion for liver transplants and enhanced recovery techniques in kidney transplants.
- Evaluate current prophylaxis and treatment strategies for CMV and BK infections in solid-organ transplant recipients to manage antiviral resistance and improve patient care.
- Summarize the key updates and changes in the continuous distribution system for organ allocation to understand their impact on transplant outcomes.
- Explain recent advancements in the treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) to enhance patient outcomes and quality of life.
- Discuss the latest therapeutic strategies and multidisciplinary approaches in managing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) to improve patient care.
- Identify the challenges and emerging applications of CAR T-cell therapy to optimize its use in clinical practice.
- Summarize recent advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma to improve patient outcomes.
- Discuss the latest staging, diagnostic processes and treatment advancements in colon cancer to enhance patient care.
- Describe the current state of melanoma, including epidemiology, traditional and advanced treatment strategies and the integration of novel therapies with established practices.
