PLEASE NOTE: These materials are intended ONLY for those who attended the live webcast held on July 23, 2025.
Activity description
This live webcast is designed to equip primary care providers with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively implement deprescribing practices. It will discuss the challenges of problematic polypharmacy and identify strategies for recognizing deprescribing opportunities, as well as describe the role of governance strategies in deprescribing initiatives. Deprescribing, the process of tapering or stopping medications that may no longer be beneficial or may be causing harm, is crucial for improving patient outcomes and enhancing quality of life.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, PAs, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other HCPs who have an interest in learning about deprescribing.
At the end of this webcast, participants should be able to:
- Explain the significance of deprescribing in primary care settings by focusing on patient outcomes and improvements in quality of life.
- Recognize the challenges of problematic polypharmacy and learn how to pinpoint opportunities for deprescribing.
- Describe how governance strategies can be employed to help to identify and advocate for less apparent deprescribing initiatives.
