New Trends in the Management of Asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

April 27, 2022

Activity description

There are a wide variety of treatment options for individuals with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including multiple pharmacological options utilizing combinations and stepwise approaches, as well as pulmonary rehabilitation. The goals of clinical management include symptomatic relief, improved lung function, maximized airflow and minimal side effects from therapy. This activity will provide participants with insight into newer approaches that effectively integrate standard interventions into management plans tailored to the individual’s particular symptoms, review the value of pulmonary rehabilitation, and outline the effective evaluation of therapeutic responses. Emerging trends in asthma and COPD management and new pharmacologic agents and strategies will be highlighted, with a review of the physiological aspects of these diseases targeted by newer therapies.
