Contemporary Evaluation of Stable Chest Pain and Coronary Calcium Scoring in Primary Prevention
Activity description
Evolving evidence and guideline recommendations have expanded the role of coronary CT angiography (CCTA), coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring, and approaches to lipid management and cardiovascular risk reduction. This live webcast will review current strategies for evaluating stable chest pain in individuals without known coronary artery disease (CAD), compare available diagnostic testing options, discuss the clinical applications and limitations of CAC scoring in risk stratification and primary prevention, and examine current recommendations for dyslipidemia management and cardiovascular risk reduction.
This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, PAs, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other HCPs who have an interest in learning about chest pain.
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Review contemporary evaluation strategies for stable chest pain in individuals without known CAD.
- Select appropriate noninvasive diagnostic testing strategies based on individual risk profiles.
- Assess the clinical role and limitations of coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring in cardiovascular risk stratification and preventive treatment decisions.
- Discuss current dyslipidemia and preventive cardiology guideline recommendations and strategies to integrate these into clinical practice.

About the presenter
Dr. Svetlana Barbarash is a Chief of Cardiology, Distinguished Partner at Southwest Medical, OptumCare in Las Vegas, NV since 2016. She joined Southwest Medical Associates in 2004. She previously served as a director of echocardiography and Heart Failure Clinic at SMA. She received her MD degree at Kemerovo State Medical Academy in Russia; completed Internal medicine residency at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, NJ; Advanced Heart Failure fellowship at Columbia University/ New York Presbyterian Medical Center, NY; and cardiovascular disease fellowship at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, NJ.
