This live webcast discusses the complexities of managing patients with co-existing major depressive disorder (MDD) and diabetes mellitus (DM). Through a blend of evidence-based practices participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to effectively manage co-morbid MDD and DM by using a comprehensive approach that addresses both medical and behavioral health needs. A focus on patient-centered care, addressing challenges specific to this population and supporting health care providers will also be highlighted.

At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the prevalence of co-morbid MDD and DM.
  • Explain the importance of using biopsychosocial assessments for treatment planning.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment strategies using relevant outcome measures. 
  • Analyze the challenges faced by patients with co-morbid conditions.
  • Develop strategies for improving patient engagement through human-centered design.
  • Articulate the benefits of collaboration between behavioral and physical medicine specialists.
