09/15/2022 $0.00 Activity descriptionA disease is considered “rare” if it affects fewer than 200,000 individuals in the US. Uncovering the genetic roots of rare diseases and using those insights to develop new treatments is an ongoing process. Kaposiform lymphangiomatosis (KLA) is a rare, life-threatening congenital lymphatic malformation. Diagnosis is often delayed due to complex indistinct symptoms, but recently emerging diagnostic tools and therapies are on the horizon. Living with a rare disease impacts both the individual and their family/caregivers both physically as well as mentally.

Individuals can suffer for years before assessments correctly reveal the presence of this disease due to its relative rarity and difficult diagnosis.

Review of Risk Factors in the Identification of Primary Open Angle Glaucoma
  • Disease Management
  • Attendance - General Attendance
  • COPE - Ophthalmologists/Optometrists
$0.00 This activity will examine risk factors for glaucoma that will assist healthcare professionals (HCPs) in the early identification of this condition in general primary eye care practice. Individual risk factors will be discussed, and pertinent literature will be reviewed to provide insight into how certain factors in combination, such as Krukenberg spindles, homogeneous trabecular meshwork pigmentation and iris transillumination defects can indicate an increased risk and alert HCPs to the presence of this disorder. A new tool will be introduced to help recommend when specific glaucoma testing is indicated.
