Polyneuropathy Diagnosis and Documentation

Activity description

In this activity, we will discuss common causes of polyneuropathy such as diabetes mellitus, alcohol use, vitamin B12 deficiency and chemotherapy.

Individuals with diabetes mellitus should be screened for polyneuropathy annually. A thorough medical history is the most important component when evaluating for polyneuropathy. The diagnosis is based on a combination of signs, symptoms and point-of-care testing.
