Pneumonia and Seizure Disorder Diagnosis and Documentation

Activity description

This activity will discuss pneumonia and seizure disorder.

Pneumonia is one of the most common conditions encountered in clinical practice and is defined as inflammation of one or both lungs' parenchyma often caused by infections (e.g., bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites). Successful documentation requires a high level of specificity including clinical presentation, diagnostic testing, identifying type or cause and location of infiltrate or consolidation.

Epilepsy affects approximately 50 million people. A diagnosis of epilepsy can be made based on a clinical constellation of findings, in combination with imaging. It is important to differentiate between a first-time seizure and epilepsy. And it is especially important to document the epilepsy type and features appropriately.
