CAR T-cell Therapy: Overcoming Challenges and Exploring New Frontiers
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
This activity consists of a recorded presentation from the "Essentials of Oncology and Transplant Management for the Health Care Team" conference held in Scottsdale, Ariz., April 8-9, 2025.
Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy continues to advance, offering widening applications and accompanying challenges. Join this session to explore the evolving landscape of CAR T-cell therapy, including its emerging role in the treatment of solid tumors, advancements in our understanding of toxicities such as cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and neurotoxicity, and limitations in its accessibility. Specific areas of focus will include updates on ongoing clinical trials, next-generation CARs with improved specificity, combination therapy with other treatments, and promising alternatives to CAR T-cell therapy such as CAR-Natural Killer (CAR-NK) and CAR-Macrophage (CAR-M) therapies for solid tumors.

- Identify the key challenges in the application of CAR T-cell therapy, including its use in solid tumors, management of toxicities, and limitations in its accessibility.
- Discuss the emerging applications of CAR T-cell therapy, such as CAR T-cell therapy for autoimmune diseases and the potential advantages of CAR-NK and CAR-M therapies over traditional CAR T-cell therapy.
