
Advances in Myopia Management
Activity description
This activity provides an in-depth, evidence-based overview of current and emerging approaches to myopia management. Participants will review epidemiology, risk factors, and mechanisms of progression, and evaluate the effectiveness and safety of available treatment strategies. Innovations will be explored, including peripheral defocus optics, novel spectacle designs, atropine therapy and cutting-edge contact lens technologies.
Emphasis is placed on early detection, risk factor modification and the integration of evidence-based interventions clinical practice. The course also highlights real-world guidance on communicating with parents and caregivers, addressing lifestyle contributors and managing clinical decision-making using the latest research.
This course is designed for healthcare providers, including optometrists, ophthalmologists, health care administrators and quality improvement specialists.
At the end of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Describe risk factors, epidemiology and key drivers of myopia progression.
- Explain the underlying mechanisms contributing to myopia progression and associated clinical implications.
- Compare the effectiveness, safety and indications of evidence-based myopia management strategies.
- Apply clinical monitoring and treatment selection principles to support individualized, evidence-based patient care.
