This activity will review PAD and identify common contributing clinical conditions. It will also explore tools that can be utilized to screen, assess, evaluate and diagnose this condition. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) coding guidelines will also be discussed, as well as the importance of accurate coding and documentation to the highest level of specificity to promote improved patient outcomes and continuity of care.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to:

• Outline how to approach a patient with suspected PAD;
• Interpret ankle-brachial indexes and noninvasive flow studies; and,
• Describe evidence-based medical therapy for PAD.
