Diagnosing and Documenting Hypercoagulable States

Activity description

This activity will review hypercoagulable states and identify the inherited and acquired conditions associated with this condition. It will also explore tools that can be utilized for screening, assessment, evaluation and diagnosis. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) coding guidelines will also be discussed, as well as the importance of accurate coding and documentation to the highest level of specificity to promote improved patient outcomes and continuity of care.

    About the presenter
    Dr. Yvonne Datta graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School, completed a medicine residency at the Medical College of Virginia and did fellowships in hematology/oncology at the University of Michigan and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is an associate professor of medicine at the University of Minnesota in the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Transplantation. She has extensive laboratory research experience in vascular biology and platelet function defects, as well as clinical research experience in venous thromboembolism and anticoagulation. She provides clinical care for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders at University of Minnesota Health.
