About the presenters
Archelle Georgiou, MD, is a storyteller, physician, former health care industry executive and data lover. Most importantly, she is a zealot about helping people understand how to navigate the health care system and advocate for their health.

In 2008, Dr. Georgiou founded Georgiou Consulting, a firm that helps companies grow by translating their health care solutions into simple, compelling stories and messages, while ensuring that companies design their products and services to have a meaningful impact on health and engage consumers. She published her first book on this topic called Healthcare Choices: 5 Steps to Getting the Medical Care You Want and Need. Dr. Georgiou graduated from Johns Hopkins University and received her medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She was board certified in internal medicine and practiced in Northern California before transitioning into health care administration and policy. Prior to founding her consulting practice, Dr. Georgiou spent 13 years as an executive with UnitedHealth Group.

Dr. Kristyn VanderWaal Mills earned her PhD from the University of Minnesota in 2011 with a focus on cell biology and genetics. Since then, she has taught biology, anatomy and physiology at Anoka Technical College, a two-year school that trains many future HCPs. She has a particular passion for helping her students gain enough scientific literacy to make informed decisions about science and health related issues. In addition, she has a personal medical story about how she made a major medical decision using the CARES model and how her medical team aided (and did not aid) in that decision. The combination of her professional background, day-to-day interaction with future HCPs and her personal health story gives her a unique perspective on health care consumer decision making.
