Long COVID Syndrome

Activity description

This activity consists of a recorded presentation from the "31st Annual National Clinical Conference" held in Bloomington, Minn., Oct. 17-19, 2022.

Some individuals who have been infected with the COVID-19 virus can experience long-term multisystemic effects from their infection, known as post-COVID conditions (PCC) or long COVID. Post-COVID conditions can have a wide range of symptoms, and for most individuals’ symptoms slowly improve with time. However, for some, post-COVID conditions may last months, and potentially years, after COVID-19 illness, and may sometimes result in disability. Researchers are still in the early stages of understanding post-COVID conditions, and there is a need for the collaboration among health care professionals to develop and offer clinical guidance. This session discusses what we know about long COVID, including long-term effects, wide range of symptoms, the role of vaccinations, and individuals at increased risk for long-term health problems.
