Over two-and-a-half days, the 31st Annual National Conference brings together health care professionals from across the U.S. to learn from and interact with renowned thought leaders and clinical practitioners who will share firsthand their knowledge about treating, caring for and engaging medically complex patients.

Target Audience

This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of case managers, coders, dietitians, dietetic technicians, managed care nurses, nurses, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, PAs, physicians, psychologists, social workers, transplant coordinators and other health care professionals.

Learning Objectives

As a result of attending this conference, learners should be able to:

  • Provide an update on current trends in chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, including emerging opportunities across multiple disease states.
  • Describe the hallmarks of successful transplant programs that provide improved access to care and can be customized by other programs to optimize health equality.
  • Recognize the challenges surrounding the timely diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases and their impact on quality of life, costs, and outcomes.
  • Identify new data regarding chronic kidney disease (CKD), cardiovascular and metabolic disease, the genomic premises of CKD, and emerging targeted therapies.
  • Report on the current state of obesity care and analyze strategies to decrease the inequity found in obesity prevention and management.
  • Discuss the role and utilization of specialty pharmacies and the processes and costs associated with the pharmaceuticals they provide.
  • Examine multiple aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic, including key takeaways for future pandemics, current data on long COVID syndrome, and its role in highlighting telehealth as an essential platform to ensure continuity of care.
  • Detail updates in colorectal cancer care, including prevalence trends, screening recommendations and modalities, current and emerging treatments focused on tumor-specific targets and recent findings in research studies and clinical trials.
  • Explain the ambulatory allogeneic transplant model and recognize the potential advantages and drawbacks of these programs.
  • Explore health care transition plans that optimize care team integration for pediatric patients moving to adult medical health services and how the utilization of these plans impact health outcomes.
  • Discuss interventional and collaborative care approaches that can address the surging mental health crisis in adolescents and help mitigate suicidality.

The American Academy of PAs (AAPA) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

AAPC-certified coders
AAPC will honor 1-for-1 CEUs for any live event offering CME credit or AMA PRA Category 1 Credit. A certificate of attendance or completion is necessary to show participation. The certificate will give the total CMEs possible for the offering. Physicians are advised to claim only the actual hours that they were present during the education. We ask that AAPC-certified members abide by this request also. One hour of instruction is worth one CEU.

Pharmacists/Pharmacy technicians
This activity is approved for 13.25 contact hours (1.325 CEUs) in states that recognize ACPE.

The participant will be awarded up to 13.25 contact hours of credit for attendance and completion of supplemental materials.

Nurse practitioners
The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Program (AANPCP) accepts credit from organizations accredited by the ACCME and ANCC.

Case managers
The Commission for Case Manager Certification has approved this program for a maximum of 13.25 clock hours for Certified Case Managers (CCM).

Dietitians 
Completion of this RD/DTR profession-specific or IPCE activity awards CPEUs (One IPCE credit=One CPEU). 

If the activity is dietetics-related but not targeted to RDs or DTRs, CPEUs may be claimed which are commensurate with participation in contact hours (One 60 minute hour=1 CPEU). 

RD's and DTRs are to select activity type 102 in their Activity Log. Performance indicator selection is at the learner's discretion. 

Managed Care Nurses
This activity has been approved for a maximum of 13.25 clock hours for Certified Managed Care Nurse (CMCN) recertification by the American Board of Managed Care Nursing (ABMCN).

Psychologists
Optum Health Education is approved by the American Psychological Association (APA) to offer continuing education for psychologists. Optum Health Education maintains responsibility for this program. 13.25 CE hour .

Social workers

ACE Logo

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Optum Health Education is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. State and provincial regulatory boards have the final authority to determine whether an individual course may be accepted for continuing education credit. Optum Health Education maintains responsibility for this course. Social workers completing this course receive up to 13.25 live continuing education credits.

Transplant coordinators, transplant nurses, procurement transplant coordinators
The American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC) has approved this educational offering for up to 13.25 Category 1 Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs).

ILNA coding
The program content has been reviewed by the Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) and is acceptable for recertification points.
