Gene Therapy: Transitioning from Proof of Principle to Practical Treatments

Activity description

This activity consists of recorded presentations from the "29th Annual National Conference" held virtually Dec. 2–3, 2020.

Gene therapy has made important medical advances in less than two decades. Although it is most often used to treat rare and often life-threatening inherited genetic diseases, gene therapy holds promise for treating a wide range of diseases. Hundreds of research studies (clinical trials) are under way to test gene therapy as a treatment for genetic conditions, cancer, and HIV/AIDS, and the number of approvals in the U.S. is expected to increase substantially in future years. This session will explore the current and future application of gene therapy.
