About the conference

Join us in Pittsburgh for this two-day conference, presented by clinical experts with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Transplant Services, Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, and UPMC CancerCenter — in what many call the birthplace of modern transplantation — as they reflect on more than 30 years of experience and innovation in transplant care.

This conference will provide attendees with invaluable knowledge as to how the clinical teams at UPMC have progressed through the last three decades with regard to critical findings in immunosuppression management and new therapies and procedures to treat acute and chronic diseases. Additionally, participants may take advantage of this opportunity to learn firsthand from leaders in the fields of transplantation and cancer research as they divulge the future landscape of novel treatment options.

  • Outline the role of ventricular assist devices (VADs) to support pediatric heart transplant patients and as destination therapy for adults, and describe outpatient management strategies to improve quality of life for these patients.
  • Analyze updated immunosuppression protocols, the status of immunosuppression withdrawal in liver transplantation, and what’s new in tolerance protocols.
  • Explain the practice of a blood and marrow transplant after a solid organ transplant using the same donor.
