Genetic Testing and Treatment: Part 1, Neuromuscular Diseases

July 7, 2020

Activity description

Genetic/genomic testing and treatment is continually evolving. The goal of this activity is to assist health care professionals (HCPs) in understanding how the vast and growing field of genetic testing can impact the plan of care and treatment for individuals with neuromuscular diseases. The importance of gathering an individual’s comprehensive history and exam, along with use of current available evidence to inform decisions on next steps in evaluation and testing, will be reviewed. Additionally, faculty will discuss the important role of a genetic counselor during the decision-making process.
