Neurocognitive Disorders: Evidence-based Guidelines for Identification, Management and Documentation

Activity description

Over 47 million people are living with dementia worldwide, and it is a major contributor to disability in the elderly. Up to 76% of individuals who meet the criteria for dementia have never received a documented diagnosis, and a delayed or missed diagnosis deprives affected individuals of available treatments, care plans and services. New recommendations were developed to improve dementia detection and diagnosis, including revised screening guidelines with standardized tools that incorporate care partners. This activity will recognize the significance of dementia and discuss various screening methods for dementia and mild cognitive impairment, along with identifying resources to assist in the plan of care for individuals and their future needs as dementia progresses.
