Series Description

While diagnosis coding is typically performed by a coding professional, Senior Community Care (SCC) Models of Care (MOC) require advanced practice clinicians (APCs) to identify and select the most appropriate diagnosis code (ICD-10-CM) that represents the diagnosis established. These activities will assist APCs who self-select electronic health record (EHR) diagnosis codes to better comprehend clinical documentation improvement practices (CDIP) and the concepts of ICD-10-CM coding. They will guide APCs in assigning the most accurate code to support the clinical diagnosis and document patient notes to the level of specificity necessary to fully describe the patient’s severity of illness. 

Continuing Education

Earn up to 1.00 CME or NCPD credit for each session completed. These activities are designed to meet the educational needs of nurses, nurse practitioners, PAs, physicians and other health care professionals (HCPs) who are interested in learning about improving clinical documentation practices and the important role of accurate ICD-10-CM coding in providing quality patient care.
