This three-day event will highlight the most current treatment approaches and innovations and offer recommendations for health care professionals to optimally manage patients with complex medical conditions.

Conference Format

Nationally recognized conference faculty—who are clinical practitioners and thought leaders—will focus on the specialized areas of solid organ and stem cell transplantation, kidney disease, behavioral health, and on determining how to best engage patients to be active participants in their health and chronic-illness management. They will address opportunities to better understand care, improve outcomes and enhance value in the care of patients with complex conditions. In addition, multiple networking opportunities are available, including two exhibit hall receptions!

After completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:

  • Explain emerging trends in the utilization, costs and outcomes of transplantation, including the special considerations unique to pediatric transplant patients;
  • Discuss current clinical practice standards that offer preventive solutions and management strategies for chronic disease areas that include 1) obesity; 2) heart failure; 3) intestinal failure; and 4) kidney disease;
  • Review updates on personalized immunosuppression and its role in liver transplantation for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma;
  • Describe the risks of long-term complications after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, including infectious diseases;
  • Explain updated therapies for health issues specific to women, including new trends in the management of infertility and information on the benefits of single-embryo transfer;
  • Assess the relationship between childhood trauma and adult well-being with a focus on childhood abuse, neglect, and family dysfunction; and
  • State effective strategies to engage and empower consumers to improve their quality of life and health outcomes.
