Intended Audience: 

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and case managers who have an interest in personalized health-management support and services that include wellness programs, decision support, disease management conditions, complex-medical-condition support, case and utilization management programs, and physical health programs.

Activity Description: 

This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from 20th Annual National Conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 4-6, 2011.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, enacted March 23, 2010, otherwise referred to as the Health Care Reform (HCR) legislation, marks a culmination of more than 70 years of attempts by the federal government to expand health care access and coverage. Individuals lacking health insurance under the current system may have access to coverage through expanded Medicaid programs, government exchange programs, or revised employer-based programs. This session will review how HCR has impacted our health care system to date and will outline next steps, as well as important pros and cons, that must be carefully considered by health care providers.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to

  1. Discuss current status of health care reform and the potential impact on health care delivery within the next few years.
  2. Review the changes scheduled to be effective in 2014, and predict their successes or possible failures based on what we know today.
