New Trends in Neuro-Oncology
This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from Advances in the Management of Oncology Patients held in Orlando,Florida on April 6-8, 2011.
More than 100,000 people in the United States are diagnosed with brain tumors each year. Because of the incredible complexity of the human brain and its role in the normal function of the body, brain tumors often have incapacitating consequences. The early and proper diagnosis of these virulent cancers is critical to patient outcomes. This presentation will describe the complex needs of these patients and how coordinating the skills and resources of a multidisciplinary team of specialists leads to the best possible patient outcomes.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to
- State areas of research and identify controversies in the field of pediatric neuro-oncology.
- Recognize the long-term effects of the tumor and its treatment on children, the relationship to the child’s age on the developing nervous system at the time of diagnosis and treatment.
