The Relationship Between Obesity and the Risk of Cancer and Cancer Relapse
This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from Advances in the Management of Oncology Patients held in Orlando,Florida on April 6-8, 2011.
The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) estimates that 25 percent of cancer cases worldwide are due to obesity and sedentary lifestyles (IARC Press, 2002). In order to impact the relationship between obesity and cancer, it is imperative that health care providers, as knowledgeable resources on the consequences of obesity, assist their patients with lifestyle change. This presentation will address this relationship based on current research between cancer risk and obesity and will offer possible solutions that will lead to better outcomes.
