The Role of Clinical Trials in Oncology
This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from Advances in the Management of Oncology Patients held in Orlando,Florida on April 6-8, 2011.
Cancer clinical trials are research studies intended to find better ways for health care providers to prevent, diagnose or treat cancer; they are responsible for most of the progress made in the fight against cancer. This presentation will discuss the challenges faced by our current clinical trial system, including recruitment, informed consent and scientific integrity.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to
- Discuss the challenges we face in our current clinical trial system, including recruitment, informed consent and scientific integrity.
- Identify the need for ongoing clinical trials, and understand the benefit for the participants as well as the patient benefits based on the trial outcomes.
