Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL): Are We Seeing Advances in Treatment for Our Aging Population?
This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from Advances in the Management of Oncology Patients held in Orlando,Florida on April 6-8, 2011.
CLL remains incurable, but major advances in the understanding and treatment of this disease have resulted in improved response rates, longer durations of response, and improved overall survival. Not all elderly patients can tolerate aggressive chemotherapy, so the challenge becomes identifying the optimal treatment regimen for that particular patient. As clinical trials are released, more treatment approaches will continue to evolve. This presentation will address the current advances being made in the treatment of geriatric oncology patients diagnosed with CLL, as well as future treatment planning needed to address our aging population.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to
- Discuss treatment options for CLL in the geriatric oncology patient.
- Review the need for future treatment planning for our aging population.
