This activity will review the prevalence of obesity in different populations and its role in the development of chronic disease. It will discuss the effects of bias, discrimination, and health disparities on the development and treatment of obesity. Importantly, it will educate participants about the benefits of a multi-modal collaborative treatment approach to mitigate contributing factors to obesity and address challenges in access to care that can influence obesity-related health outcomes in certain communities.

Activity description To promote diversity and cultural competence in health care providers, help decrease barriers and achieve the goal of trust and successful communication in end-of-life care in interracial settings, an assessment of patients' values, beliefs and preferences are needed. This activity will identify disparities and discuss barriers preventing underrepresented diverse groups from access to hospice and end-of-life care and explore ways to provide equitable care to all diverse groups at the end of life.
