Early childhood ruptured attachments, adversity and trauma experiences have significant impacts on health, development and well-being throughout the lifespan. Understanding these impacts and learning care strategies that can enhance professionals’ and caregivers’ abilities to prevent or mitigate these impacts can reduce the incidence of health crises and improve overall well-being and quality of life. Participants will learn the fundamentals of attachment patterns, developmental trauma and associated behaviors and will discuss strategies for working with traumatized children and supporting parents and caregivers. This session will delve into the tool chest of contact lens solutions, including standard rigid gas permeable (RGP) lens designs, reverse geometry RGPs, hybrids and scleral lenses. Despite the large increase in the number of multi-organ transplants (MOTs) performed over the past few years, challenges still exist in this arena. Among these unresolved issues are a lack of standardized MOT eligibility criteria across institutions, regions and different organ combinations. Ethical issues have also arisen regarding equity in organ allocation amidst a limited organ supply, as many MOT candidates get priority allocation for nonprimary organs versus individuals requiring that organ as a single transplant; this prioritization may impact optimal recipient and graft survival as well. In this session, learn more about multi-organ allocation and its accompanying challenges, risks, benefits, and expected outcomes, as well as the limitations of MOT for potential recipients.
