This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and case managers who have an interest in personalized health-management support and services that include wellness programs, decision support, disease management conditions, complex-medical-condition support, case and utilization management programs, and physical health programs.

Activity Description: 

This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from 20th Annual National Conference held in Minneapolis, Minnesota on October 4-6, 2011.
Effective pain management requires systematic, coordinated patient care management by prepared health care professionals. As the treatment options for pain management have increased, the need for advanced educational preparation in patient care management has emerged. This presentation will address the challenges health care professionals face when managing this patient population and provide an overview of an effective pain management care program.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to

  1. Review the criteria for an effective pain management care program.
  2. Describe strategies to improve pain management and identify methods to integrate pain assessment in the health care professional’s practice.
