This educational activity consists of recorded presentations from Advances in the Management of Oncology Patients held in Orlando,Florida on April 6-8, 2011.
Recent advances in diagnostic and therapeutic methods in pediatric oncology have contributed to an 80 percent increase in survivorship. However, major long-term complications—such as infertility—can occur that limit the quality of survival. Treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery, have been implicated as causes of infertility. This session will address fertility-preservation options for prepubertal and pubescent male and female cancer patients to help maximize their quality of life.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this educational activity, participants should be able to

1. Identify possible causes of infertility in pediatric cancer survivors
2. Discuss fertility-preservation options that are available for both male and female cancer patients
