Liver Transplantation for Hepatocelluar Carcinoma

The goal of this presentation is for attendees to be able to discuss the role of liver transplantation for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and identify the risk factors, screening paradigms for HCC, barriers to liver transplantation, and survival outcomes for patients with HCC.

  1. Describe the epidemiology and risk factors for development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)
  2. Identify the appropriate screening protocols for HCC in high-risk cohorts
  3. Recognize the classic radiographic appearance of HCC on cross-sectional imaging
  4. Review the indications for liver transplant as oncologic treatment of HCC including the Milan Criteria (HCC size/ number acceptable for liver transplantation)
